MOURNING the death of John O. Peck, devoted
husband, father, grandfather, brother, and small
business owner

WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who,
through their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better
the quality of life in our community and have had a measurable positive
impact on the lives of its residents; John O. Peck was one such
individual; and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of John O. Peck on Friday, February
14, 2025, at the age of 73, noting the significance of his purposeful
life and accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, John O. Peck was born in Mount Kisco, New York, on June 11,
1951, to Oliver and Elizabeth Peck; a lifelong resident of Vista, New
York, he was a proud graduate of the John Jay High School Class of 1970;
and

WHEREAS, In 1973, John O. Peck met his soulmate, Carol, and the two
married in 1981; whether it was sitting outside in lawn chairs on a
summer day or on one of their frequent trips to Walt Disney World, John
and Carol shared a love that spanned over five decades; John was a true
warrior, bravely defeating cancer three times, and through every
challenge Carol demonstrated her unwavering love and care for him; and

WHEREAS, John O. Peck was a dedicated father to his two sons, Jeff
and Mike, instilling in them the values of respect, fairness, honesty,
and hard work; he took pride in coaching Jeff's Little League team and
enjoyed cheering Mike on as he raced go-karts; most recently, John
cherished becoming a grandfather to his grandchildren Reagan and Luke;
and

WHEREAS, John O. Peck worked tirelessly to provide for his family
and in the late 1980s he founded J.O. Peck Heating & Cooling, serving
Fairfield and Westchester counties; he took immense pride in his
craftsmanship and was well-known for his dedication to his customers;
and

WHEREAS, A car enthusiast, John O. Peck loved sharing stories of his
competitive car racing days; he was friends with so many in the
communities where he lived and worked; people enjoyed his company,
respected his opinion, admired his work ethic, and held him in the
highest regard; and

WHEREAS, John O. Peck is survived by his beloved wife of more than
50 years, Carol; his sons, Jeffrey (Kimberly) and Michael (Rebecca); and
his cherished grandchildren, Reagan and Luke; he is also survived by his
siblings, April (Kevin), Peter (Colleen), and Penny (Alicia), as well as
many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were like family to him; and

WHEREAS, John O. Peck's infinite selflessness and benevolence will
shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories; his insight and
strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to the
countless lives he touched; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, John O. Peck leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all who
were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will be
deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of John O. Peck, and to express its deepest condolences
to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of John O. Peck.
