COMMEMORATING the 125th Anniversary of the
Oriskany Volunteer Fire Department

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes great pride in recognizing
organizations that have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to
service, safety, and community; and

WHEREAS, For the past 125 years, the Oriskany Volunteer Fire
Department has remained steadfast in its mission to provide professional
fire and rescue protection services to the Oriskany Fire District,
operating as a 100% volunteer organization dedicated to protecting lives
and property; and

WHEREAS, On June 15, 1900, the Oriskany Fire Company was officially
established and equipped with 1,000 feet of hose, two hose carts, four
brass pipes, two lanterns, two hose wrenches, two crowbars, and two
axes, supplied by the Town of Whitestown to begin its service; and

WHEREAS, The Oriskany Volunteer Fire Department is composed entirely
of volunteers who selflessly dedicate their time and skills, finding
their reward in the knowledge that they safeguard their neighbors and
community whenever flames may rage; and

WHEREAS, The department provides a comprehensive range of emergency
services, including fire suppression, fire cause and origin
investigations, code inspections, emergency medical response, technical
rescue operations on both land and water, and hazardous materials
responses; and

WHEREAS, To ensure the highest level of preparedness, the Oriskany
Volunteer Fire Department trains its members to the same standards as
professional firefighters, maintaining a high level of efficiency and
effectiveness in all emergency situations; and

WHEREAS, The department actively engages in public safety education,
partnering with the Whitesboro Fire Department to implement community
programs such as "Get Out, Stay Out," "Stranger Danger," "Firefighters
Are Friends," and "Winter Safety"; and

WHEREAS, The Oriskany Volunteer Fire Department also contributes to
the community through participation in local events, support for
nonprofit organizations, and financial assistance to causes that benefit
the greater good; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, its outreach extends to offering training in
CPR, First Aid, and Driver's Safety, ensuring that community members are
equipped with essential life-saving skills; and

WHEREAS, Throughout its 125-year history, the Oriskany Volunteer
Fire Department has remained dedicated to its original
purpose-protecting lives, serving its community, and assisting those in
need whenever the call arises; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the Oriskany Volunteer Fire
Department, honoring its legacy of service, sacrifice, and dedication to
the safety and well-being of the Oriskany community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Oriskany Volunteer Fire Department.
