CONGRATULATING Meaghan Lynch of Schuylerville High
School upon the occasion of capturing the New York
State Federation Championship in the Long Jump on
March 8, 2025

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Meaghan Lynch of Schuylerville High School upon the occasion of
capturing the New York State Federation Championship where she took
first place in the long jump with a leap of 19'4.5" on Saturday, March
8, 2025, at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Staten Island;
and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of her excited fans, Meaghan
Lynch capped off a tremendous season with a win at the state
championship meet in the long jump, outdistancing the runner-up by more
than three inches; and

WHEREAS, In addition to this monumental feat and prior to her
success at the State level, Meaghan Lynch's win highlighted a season
that included wins at the Section II championships at the Division III
level in the 55 meters, the long jump and the high jump; and

WHEREAS, The Schuylerville High School Indoor Track Team also
competed at the Beantown Winter Classic in Boston, Massachusetts, with
Meaghan Lynch breaking two school records in the 55m dash and the Triple
Jump; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as track and field, which demands stamina,
discipline and determination, Head Coach Quinn Spencer and Assistant
Coach Kim Duncan worked hard to hone the skills of this champion,
teaching this outstanding athlete lessons which will prove invaluable
both on and off the track; and

WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of black and orange,
her family, friends, and the community at large loyally and
enthusiastically supported Meaghan Lynch throughout her journey as she
ended her season with an impressive overall record earning her the
prestigious title of Times Union Athlete of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Meaghan Lynch has clearly made a contribution to

the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of her school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Meaghan Lynch of Schuylerville High School upon the
occasion of capturing the New York State Federation Championship in the
Long Jump on March 8, 2025; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Meaghan Lynch, the aforementioned coaches, Athletic
Director John Bowen, Superintendent Dr. Ryan Sherman, Principal James
Ducharme, and Assistant Athletic Director Tracy Lyon.
