Senate Resolution No. 800

COMMENDING New York State Trooper Michael R.
Nackley upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the George M. Searle Memorial Award
WHEREAS, Law enforcement officers from the State of New York put
their lives on the line every day for the citizens of this great Empire
State; and
WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to
honor those individuals who serve to preserve and protect such values,
lauding particularly their unwavering courage and dedication in the
daily performance of their duties; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend New York State Trooper Michael R. Nackley upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the George M. Searle Memorial Award, to
be recognized at the New York State Police Annual Superintendent's
Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, May 7, 2025; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers who devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; it is appropriate to recognize and commend outstanding law
enforcement officers such as Michael R. Nackley for their valued
contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, The George M. Searle Memorial Award, established to honor
the late Deputy Superintendent George M. Searle, is presented to
individuals who have distinguished themselves in training and education;
and
WHEREAS, Michael R. Nackley is a member of the New York State Police
Emergency Vehicles Operator Course (NYSP EVOC) and works diligently to
properly train countless members of the Albany Basic School and
In-Service Training, as well as the Cazenovia Basic School, all while
researching new law enforcement equipment and maintaining the EVOC
vehicle fleet and track at the State Preparedness Training Center; and
WHEREAS, This noble State Trooper, alongside the members of his
unit, has helped train every member of the State Police with curriculum
during the Winter In-Service Training, and has taken on increased
responsibilities training Cazenovia Recruits with poise, experience, and
an unwavering sense of professionalism; and
WHEREAS, In an ongoing pursuit of excellence, Michael R. Nackley and
the NYSP EVOC unit work continuously to learn new tactics, methods, and
systems to better handle emergency responses and pursuits; and
WHEREAS, Members of the NYSP EVOC unit, inclusive of this dedicated
State Trooper, Michael R. Nackley, are trained in pursuit de-escalation
techniques, precision immobilization techniques, and the Traffic Unit's
Star Chase vehicle tracking initiative; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York, there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; Trooper Michael
R. Nackley should be embraced with admiration and respect by a grateful
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend New York State Trooper Michael R. Nackley upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the George M. Searle Memorial Award; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michael R. Nackley.
