Senate Resolution No. 811

MOURNING the death of Gail Franko, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of her community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Gail Franko of Buchanan, New York died on April 9, 2025, at
the age of 82; and
WHEREAS, Born in the Morris Park section of the Bronx, New York on
May 23, 1942, to parents Henry and Liberta, Gail Franko graduated from
Our Savior Lutheran High School in 1960; and
WHEREAS, Gail Franko worked at New York Life Insurance Company in
Manhattan, New York, where she met her future husband, Ted Franko; and
WHEREAS, Gail Franko distinguished herself in her profession and by
her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and
WHEREAS, During her lifetime, Gail Franko worked diligently at an
insurance company, a bakery, a school, was a member of the Buchanan Fire
Department Ladies Auxiliary, and selflessly volunteered at Hudson Valley
Hospital for an astounding 45 years; and
WHEREAS, Gail Franko was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church of
Our Redeemer in Peekskill, New York; and
WHEREAS, Gail Franko is survived by her daughters, Dina Franko and
Kara Vandivier (Bobby); son, John Franko (Tiffany); nieces, Eva and
Julie Franko; she is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Liberta; and
husband Ted; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Gail Franko leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all she
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Gail Franko, distinguished citizen and devoted member
of her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Gail Franko.
