HONORING Milly Koh upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Liberty Bell Award
presented by the Warren County Bar Association
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Milly Koh upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Liberty Bell Award presented by the Warren County Bar Association; and
WHEREAS, The American Bar Association's Liberty Bell Award is the
most prestigious award given by lawyers to a non-lawyer; the Award
honors a person who has strengthened the American system of freedom and
justice under law through their extraordinary contributions in the
community; Milly Koh is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Queensbury, New York, Milly Koh has been a
pivotal force in promoting cross-cultural understanding as the
co-founder of the Sister Cities Committee of Glens Falls and Warren
County; and
WHEREAS, For nearly four decades, Milly Koh has served as the
exchange coordinator and a dedicated member of the Sister Cities
Committee, facilitating meaningful exchanges between students from Glens
Falls and Saga, Japan; her leadership has fostered collaboration, mutual
respect, and lasting friendships between these two communities; and
WHEREAS, Through her tireless efforts, Milly Koh has helped
thousands of young people gain a deeper understanding of their own
cultural heritage while developing a broader global perspective; her
work has inspired teens to embrace their roles as responsible citizens
both locally and internationally; and
WHEREAS, The positive impact of Milly Koh's work extends far beyond
the immediate exchanges, leaving an enduring legacy of friendship and
cross-cultural appreciation that continues to shape the future of the
students and communities involved; and
WHEREAS, It is the belief of this Legislative Body that individuals
like Milly Koh, whose dedication and compassion uplift the community and
foster global understanding, deserve to be celebrated and acknowledged
for their remarkable contributions; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Milly Koh upon the occasion of her designation as the recipient of
the Liberty Bell Award by the Warren County Bar Association; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Milly Koh.
