COMMEMORATING the 60th Anniversary of Adirondack
Community Action Programs, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
institutions which have faithfully served the needs of the community and
its citizens with unwavering diligence, unrelenting compassion, and a
strong sense of commitment to upholding the highest practices and
standards in their field; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Adirondack Community Action
Programs, Inc., to be celebrated at a conference on Friday, March 28,
2025; and

WHEREAS, The Committee for Economic Improvement, Inc. was
established in 1965 as a Community Action Agency to serve the needs and
advocate for all people in Essex County; the agency changed its name to
Adirondack Community Action Programs, Inc. (ACAP) in 1999; ACAP assists
families to become more self-sufficient through programs designed to
help them in meeting their goals; and

WHEREAS, Adirondack Community Action Programs, Inc.'s mission to
connect people, values and resources to promote personal, economic and
community growth; and

WHEREAS, Adirondack Community Action Programs Inc.'s offerings have
provided vital services, including early childhood education, family
support, senior services, and community development initiatives; and

WHEREAS, The agency no longer focuses on the number of people
served, but instead measures success by the positive changes in
individuals and the community; ACAP prioritizes recognizing the
strengths and values of people, as well as fostering strong
relationships with families; their success is determined by these
outcomes, which also help secure continued funding; and

WHEREAS, Adirondack Community Action Programs and other Community
Action Agencies have worked for 50 years to continue to respond to the
pressing problems faced by low-income people across the nation, while
seeking new and innovative ways to combat the causes, as well as the
effects, of poverty; and

WHEREAS, The success of Adirondack Community Action Programs, Inc.
is in direct correlation to the efforts of its Board of Directors and
its various members and volunteers, whose involvement is, and always has
been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional institution and its vibrant role in
improving the quality of life in its community, fully confident it will

continue to enjoy the same sparkling successes it has experienced thus
far; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Adirondack Community Action
Programs, Inc.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Adirondack Community Action Programs, Inc.
