MEMORIALIZING the life and legacy of Alice Roker,
longtime Yorktown Town Clerk, devoted public
servant, and trailblazing leader

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor the lives of those who have made significant contributions to
their communities, serving with dedication, integrity, and commitment to
the public good; and

WHEREAS, A distinguished public servant and longtime Yorktown Town
Clerk, Alice Roker rendered faithful, conscientious, and valuable
service to the Town of Yorktown and the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, The first African American elected official in Yorktown,
Alice Roker dedicated her career to modernizing the Clerk's office,
ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accessibility for all residents;
and

WHEREAS, Alice Roker dedicated 30 years of service to the residents
of Yorktown, serving them as the Town's Supervisor, Councilmember,
Historian, and Clerk, the title she held for the last 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Alice Roker was known for her
unwavering dedication to the people of Yorktown, her kindness, and her
tireless advocacy for government accountability and community
engagement; and

WHEREAS, Alice Roker's impact extended beyond the office she held,
as she served as a mentor, advisor, and role model for aspiring public
servants, demonstrating the values of leadership, service, and
integrity; and

WHEREAS, Alice Roker's passing is a profound loss for the Town of
Yorktown and all who knew and respected her; however, her legacy will
endure through the policies she implemented and the countless lives she
touched; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those individuals who have worked diligently to improve the lives of
their fellow citizens, leaving an indelible mark on their communities;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pauses in its deliberations to
honor the memory of Alice Roker, to recognize her extraordinary service
and commitment to the Town of Yorktown, and to extend heartfelt
condolences to her family, friends, and all those who were privileged to
know her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Alice Roker.
