COMMEMORATING the 111th Anniversary of Phi Beta
Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and honoring its legacy of
Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those organizations that exemplify leadership, civic engagement,
and a commitment to uplifting communities through education, service,
and social justice; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 111th Anniversary of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.,
and honoring its legacy of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service; and

WHEREAS, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., was founded on January 9,
1914, at Howard University in Washington, D.C., by three visionary
leaders-A. Langston Taylor, Leonard F. Morse, and Charles I. Brown-who
sought to establish a fraternity built on the principles of Brotherhood,
Scholarship, and Service; and

WHEREAS, For 111 years, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., has
championed social change, community uplift, and personal development,
creating opportunities for individuals to grow as leaders and make
meaningful contributions to society; and

WHEREAS, The fraternity's motto, "Culture For Service and Service
For Humanity," has inspired countless members to advocate for equity,
justice, and educational empowerment, impacting communities both
nationally and internationally; and

WHEREAS, Phi Beta Sigma has been instrumental in addressing critical
issues such as civil rights, educational access, public health
awareness, and economic empowerment through its initiatives, including
Project S.E.E.D. (Sigma Economic Empowerment Development), the Bigger
and Better Business Program, and its signature programs in health and
education; and

WHEREAS, The fraternity has nurtured generations of leaders,
including prominent figures in government, education, business, and the
arts, who have carried forward the ideals of the organization with
excellence and dedication; and

WHEREAS, Phi Beta Sigma remains a steadfast partner in uplifting
marginalized communities, fostering collaboration, and promoting the
principles of unity and progress through its motto and mission; and

WHEREAS, On the occasion of its 111th Founders Day, Phi Beta Sigma
Fraternity, Inc., continues to uphold the legacy of its founders and
inspire its members to lead lives of purpose, service, and achievement;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 111th Anniversary of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.,

and to honor its enduring legacy of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and
Service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the International Headquarters of Phi Beta Sigma
Fraternity, Inc., and its members in recognition of this historic
milestone.
