HONORING the Nassau County Police Department upon
the occasion of its 100th Anniversary of dedicated
service to the people of Nassau County and the State
of New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions and individuals who have demonstrated a
long-standing commitment to protecting and serving the residents of New
York State with honor, professionalism, and distinction; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
proud traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Nassau County Police Department, upon the occasion of its 100th
Anniversary in 2025, celebrating a century of law enforcement excellence
and public service; and

WHEREAS, Officially established in 1925, the Nassau County Police
Department (NCPD) was created to provide centralized and professional
police protection to the rapidly growing communities of Nassau County;
since then, it has grown into one of the largest and most respected
police departments in the Nation; and

WHEREAS, Over the past century, the men and women of the Nassau
County Police Department have demonstrated unwavering courage,
commitment, and sacrifice, responding to the evolving needs of the
community with skill and integrity; and

WHEREAS, From combating organized crime and narcotics to leading
innovations in traffic safety, emergency response, community policing,
and technological advancements in law enforcement, the NCPD has
continually adapted to meet the challenges of modern policing; and

WHEREAS, The Department has also been a leader in fostering positive
relationships with the diverse communities it serves, working tirelessly
to build trust, promote transparency, and ensure the safety and
well-being of all Nassau County residents; and

WHEREAS, The legacy of the Nassau County Police Department is built
upon the dedication of its officers, past and present, who have served
with honor, some of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of
duty; and

WHEREAS, As the Department commemorates its 100th Anniversary in
2025, it stands as a proud symbol of public service, protection, and
partnership, deserving of the highest praise and recognition; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Nassau County Police Department, upon the occasion of its
100th Anniversary, recognizing a century of outstanding service,
sacrifice, and commitment to the people of Nassau County and the State
of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Commissioner of the Nassau County Police Department
and to appropriate law enforcement and civic organizations in
recognition of this historic milestone.
