COMMEMORATING the 10th Anniversary of Come as You
Are Ministries on April 17, 2025
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social, and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and Nation to pay tribute
to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to the
ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in commemorating the
10th Anniversary of Come as You Are Ministries on Thursday, April 17,
2025; and
WHEREAS, Come as You Are Ministries was established on April 17,
2015, under the direction of Pastor Debra Gallimore; with approximately
50 members, this small church is a force within its community; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Debra Gallimore and her love for the community, with
the help of Come as You Are Ministries' members and her Deacon Leon
Magett, continues to change the lives of many people living with less
hope through her experiences and inspiring faithful messaging and
committed advocacy for others; and
WHEREAS, A respected and educated leader, Pastor Debra Gallimore's
education in the fields of philosophy and religious studies lend unique
perspectives, interpretations, and understanding of the faith which she
preaches passionately; she plans to continue her ongoing education to
obtain a Doctor of Theology degree in 2025; and
WHEREAS, With a true giving spirit and sense of responsibility for
the well-being of those in their own community, in its first five years,
Come As You Are Ministries set up and hosted various programs and
community groups such as bible study, Sunday school, men's and women's
groups, Christian counseling, annual revival, monthly birthday
celebrations, Black History Month and cultural awareness events, as well
as created The Fasulo Scholarship Award; and
WHEREAS, Come As You Are Ministries also participates in charitable
causes, including school supply and Toys for Tots drives, as well as
participates in food for harvest; and
WHEREAS, In a true act of resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic,
Come As You Are Ministries remained committed to its purpose with Pastor
Debra Gallimore doing house visits to minister directly to parishioners
at a time when the church's doors could not be opened to the public; and
WHEREAS, Today, Come As You Are Ministries stands on the threshold
of tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming decades while
retaining a spiritual resolve which characterizes its past; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Come as You Are Ministries on April
17, 2025; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Come As You Are Ministries.
