HONORING Henry W. Bostelman upon the occasion of
his retirement after 15 years of dedicated public
service to the Afton Central School District Board
of Education

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Henry W. Bostelman upon the occasion of his retirement after 15 years of
dedicated public service to the Afton Central School District Board of
Education; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of the Afton Central School District, Class of
1971, Henry W. Bostelman went on to shepherd the highly successful
Bostelman Livestock Transportation Company; and

WHEREAS, Henry W. Bostelman, a dedicated and invested community
member and family man, was first elected to the Afton Central School
District Board of Education in 2010; and

WHEREAS, With a commitment to the people of his community and the
Afton Central School District, Henry W. Bostelman served three terms on
the Afton Central School District Board of Education with a great
passion for this line of work; and

WHEREAS, Henry W. Bostelman, while capably serving on the Afton
Central School District Board of Education for three terms, had to make
tough decisions with the goal to better his community and the Afton
Central School District; and

WHEREAS, Notably, under Henry W. Bostelman's exceptional leadership,
the Afton Central School District Board of Education implemented a
rigorous and challenging instructional program to support exceptional
teaching and learning for all of its faculty and students; ensured a
safe teaching and learning environment for all; passed multiple capital
projects to dramatically improve its buildings and grounds; and
responsibly managed the District's financial assets and resources; all
this to provide the best possible opportunities for the community,
faculty, staff, and students of the Afton Central School District; and

WHEREAS, Henry W. Bostelman, upon his retirement from the Afton
Central School District Board of Education, effective June 30, 2025 was,
impressively, the longest serving member on the current Afton Central
School District Board of Education; and

WHEREAS, In his retirement from the Afton Central School District
Board of Education, Henry W. Bostelman, a cattleman and farmer by trade,
will now focus his unique energies and skills to his family; and

WHEREAS, With Henry W. Bostelman throughout, has been his wife,
Debbie, son, Matthew, and sister, Cindy, who feel privileged to be part
of his life and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, In his capacity as a member of the Afton Central School
District Board of Education, Henry W. Bostelman served with loyalty,
honor and distinction; and

WHEREAS, In his official acts, Henry W. Bostelman was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and

WHEREAS, During his tenure serving on the Afton Central School
District Board of Education, Henry W. Bostelman earned the admiration,
esteem, and affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Henry W. Bostelman upon the occasion of his retirement after 15
years of dedicated public service to the Afton Central School District
Board of Education; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Henry W. Bostelman.
