BILL NUMBER: S1101 SPONSOR: MAY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to limiting the department of environmental conservation's ability to fix special open seasons for taking wild deer PURPOSE: The purpose of the bill is to limit the department of environmental conservation's ability to fix special open seasons for taking of wild deer. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: This bill amends subdivision 9 of the environmental conservation law to limit the department of environmental conservation's ability to fix special open seasons for taking wild deer, moving a special season's end from February 10 to the third Sunday of December immediately following.

MAY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Environmental Conservation AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to limiting the department of environmental conservation's ability to fix special open seasons for taking wild deer THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph c of subdivision 9 of section 11-0903 of the environmental conservation law, as amended by chapter 911 of the laws of 1990, is amended to read as follows: c. Such seasons may be fixed for any number of days during the period beginning on the eleventh day after the close of a regular open season for deer established by law and ending on [February 10] THE THIRD SUNDAY OF DECEMBER immediately following. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD03128-01-5
