BILL NUMBER: S1444 SPONSOR: BORRELLO TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to designating uniformed court officers in the town of Busti, county of Chautauqua, as peace officers PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Designates the uniformed court officers of the Town of Busti, as peace officers. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1. Amends Section 2.10 of the Criminal Procedure law by adding a new subdivision 86 to provide that employees of the Town of Busti, in Chautauqua County, serving as uniformed court officers in the justice court of such town, may be designated as peace officers; provided, however, that nothing in this subdivision shall be deemed to authorize such employees to carry, possess, repair or dispose of a firearm unless

BORRELLO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to designating uniformed court officers in the town of Busti, county of Chautauqua, as peace officers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by adding a new subdivision 88 to read as follows: 88. EMPLOYEES OF THE TOWN OF BUSTI, IN THE COUNTY OF CHAUTAUQUA, SERV- ING AS UNIFORMED COURT OFFICERS IN THE JUSTICE COURT OF SUCH TOWN; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT NOTHING IN THIS SUBDIVISION SHALL BE DEEMED TO AUTHORIZE SUCH EMPLOYEES TO CARRY, POSSESS, REPAIR OR DISPOSE OF A FIREARM UNLESS THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE THEREFOR HAS BEEN ISSUED PURSUANT TO SECTION 400.00 OF THE PENAL LAW. § 2.
