BILL NUMBER: S1664 SPONSOR: HARCKHAM TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to providing access to live scan fingerprinting to society for the prevention of cruelty to animals officers PURPOSE: Provides access to society for the prevention of cruelty to animals officers access for live scan fingerprinting. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends the criminal procedure law by adding subsection 1-a stating that following an arrest by a society for the prevention of cruelty to an animal officer, such officer shall be permitted access to the live scan fingerprinting system or similar technology. Section 2 states the effective date.

HARCKHAM, CANZONERI-FITZPATRICK, GALLIVAN, HELMING, MATTERA, PALUMBO, ROLISON, TEDISCO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to providing access to live scan fingerprinting to society for the prevention of cruelty to animals officers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 160.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by adding a new subdivision 1-a to read as follows: 1-A. FOLLOWING AN ARREST BY A SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS OFFICER, SUCH OFFICER SHALL BE PERMITTED ACCESS TO THE LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING SYSTEM OR SIMILAR TECHNOLOGY IN ORDER TO EFFECTUATE THE COMPLETION OF SUCH ARREST INDEPENDENTLY AND WITHOUT THE ASSISTANCE OF OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL. § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend- ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen- tation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
