BILL NUMBER: S2121 SPONSOR: FAHY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public health law, in relation to providing educa- tion and outreach programs related to home visiting programs PURPOSE: The purpose of this bill is to increase awareness and outreach efforts to those that may be eligible for home visiting services. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 would expand the Health Care and Wellness Education and Outreach program, under the jurisdiction of the Department of Health (DOH), to include home visiting programs. Specifically, this will result in the creation of informational material on the availability, eligibil- ity criteria, and relevant contact information of home visiting programs across the state.

FAHY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Women's Issues AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to providing educa- tion and outreach programs related to home visiting programs THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 207 of the public health law is amended by adding a new paragraph (t) to read as follows: (T) HOME VISITING PROGRAMS WHICH PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR PREGNANT AND PARENTING FAMILIES, AND HAVE BEEN PROVEN TO IMPROVE OUTCOMES FOR MOTH- ERS, INFANTS, AND FAMILIES. SUCH INFORMATION SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO SERVICES AVAILABLE FROM SUCH PROGRAMS, ELIGIBILITY, AND RELE- VANT CONTACT INFORMATION. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
