ADDABBO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on New York City Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to providing school application preference when a student is applying to the same public elementary or middle school as a sibling THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 3203-a to read as follows: § 3203-A. SCHOOL APPLICATION PREFERENCE FOR SIBLINGS IN A CITY WITH A POPULATION OF ONE MILLION OR MORE. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER LAW, RULE OR REGULATION TO THE CONTRARY, IN A CITY WITH A POPULATION OF ONE MILLION OR MORE, WHERE A STUDENT IS APPLYING OR WAITLISTED TO ATTEND A PUBLIC ELEMENTARY OR MIDDLE SCHOOL AND SUCH STUDENT HAS A SIBLING WHO ALREADY ATTENDS SUCH SCHOOL BEING APPLIED TO, SUCH STUDENT WHOSE APPLI- CATION IS PENDING SHALL BE GIVEN PREFERENCE FOR ADMISSION AS A RESULT OF HAVING A SIBLING WHO ALREADY ATTENDS SUCH SCHOOL. § 2.
