BILL NUMBER: S3312 SPONSOR: PALUMBO TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the executive law, in relation to allowing represen- tatives of the media authorized access to areas closed during public emergencies PURPOSE: This legislation would provide that any duly authorized representative of any radio, television, newspaper or news service media be permitted access to areas which have been restricted, regulated or controlled in the case of a public emergency. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. Amends section 24 of the executive law to add a new subdivi- sion 2-a to provide that nothing shall prevent a duly authorized repre- sentative of the media from entering areas restricted during a declared public emergency.

PALUMBO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Veterans, Homeland Securi- ty and Military Affairs AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to allowing represen- tatives of the media authorized access to areas closed during public emergencies THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 24 of the executive law is amended by adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows: 2-A. NOTHING SHALL PREVENT A DULY AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE OF ANY RADIO, TELEVISION, NEWSPAPER OR NEWS SERVICE MEDIA FROM ENTERING ANY AREAS WHICH HAVE BEEN RESTRICTED, REGULATED OR CONTROLLED PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION. § 2.
