 Introduced  by  Sen.  CLEARE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Housing, Construction  and
   Community Development
 
 AN  ACT  to  amend  the  multiple dwelling law, in relation to requiring
   exterior cages for air conditioners

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  The  multiple  dwelling  law  is  amended by adding a new
 section 62-a to read as follows:
   § 62-A. AIR CONDITIONERS. ANY AIR CONDITIONER INSTALLED IN A  MULTIPLE
 DWELLING  SHALL  BE  PROTECTED BY AN EXTERIOR CAGE. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS
 SECTION, AIR CONDITIONERS (1) THAT ARE INSTALLED INSIDE AND WHOLLY WITH-
 IN A DWELLING UNIT OR (2) ARE ALREADY  PROTECTED  BY  AN  EXTERIOR  WALL
 SLEEVE  MOUNTED TO THE WINDOW, SHALL NOT REQUIRE EXTERIOR CAGES PURSUANT
 TO THIS SECTION.
   § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day  after  it  shall
 have become a law.
