BILL NUMBER: S4499 SPONSOR: FAHY TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to authorizing Justin Finkle to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and be placed on the eligible list for employment as a full-time police officer for the town of Bethlehem PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To grant Justin Finkle the ability to take the civil service exam to apply for a job as a police officer town of Bethlehem. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: States that Justin Finkle may take the civil service exam, notwithstanding the age requirement under paragraph (a) or any other provision of the law, and shall be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time police officer with the town of Bethlehem, contingent on scoring.

FAHY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT in relation to authorizing Justin Finkle to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and be placed on the eligible list for employment as a full-time police offi- cer for the town of Bethlehem THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service law, including the age requirements under paragraph (a) of subdivision 1 of such section, or any other provision of law to the contrary, Justin Finkle, who is a resident of the town of Bethlehem, in the county of Albany, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time police officer with the Bethlehem police department in the town of Bethlehem, county of Albany. § 2. Justin Finkle shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police offi- cers. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
