PALUMBO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Mental Health AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to authorizing a member of the community or a community ambassador to apply for invol- untary admission of a person alleged to be mentally ill THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as "Tony's law". § 2. Subdivision (b) of section 9.27 of the mental hygiene law is amended by adding a new paragraph 12 to read as follows: 12. A MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH THE PERSON DWELLS OR RESIDES WHO IS OVER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN, OR A COMMUNITY AMBASSADOR IN COUNTIES OR LOCALITIES THAT HAVE AN ESTABLISHED COMMUNITY AMBASSADOR PROGRAM. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD02158-01-5
