BILL NUMBER: S5191 SPONSOR: STEWART-COUSINS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 372 of the laws of 2020, relating to authorizing the town of Mount Pleasant to adopt a local law to impose a hotel/motel occupancy tax for hotels not located in a village, in relation to extending the expiration thereof PURPOSE: The purpose of this bill is to extend the authorization for the town of Mount Pleasant to impose a hotel/motel occupancy tax of no greater than three percent in all areas of the town not located in a village until September 1, 2027. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill amends the tax law to extend the expiration date of the authorization for the town of Mount Pleasant to impose a maximum hotel/motel occupancy tax of three percent until September 1, 2027.

STEWART-COUSINS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Government Operations AN ACT to amend chapter 372 of the laws of 2020, relating to authorizing the town of Mount Pleasant to adopt a local law to impose a hotel/motel occupancy tax for hotels not located in a village, in relation to extending the expiration thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 372 of the laws of 2020, amending the tax law relating to authorizing the town of Mount Pleasant to adopt a local law to impose a hotel/motel occupancy tax for hotels not located in a village, as amended by chapter 346 of the laws of 2023, is amended to read as follows: § 2. This act shall take effect immediately, and shall expire and be deemed repealed September 1, [2025] 2027. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD08760-01-5
