BILL NUMBER: S6372 SPONSOR: MAYER TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the local finance law, in relation to the probable usefulness of judgments, compromised claims or settled claims resulting from certain child sexual abuse cases PURPOSE: To allow school districts to bond for up to 30 years for judgements or settlements resulting from the CVA. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends paragraph a of section 11.00 of the local finance law by adding a new subdivision 33-a-1 which allows school districts, BOCES, and Special Act school districts to bond for up to 30 years on judge- ments, compromised claims, or settled claims resulting from CVA cases.

MAYER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT to amend the local finance law, in relation to the probable usefulness of judgments, compromised claims or settled claims result- ing from certain child sexual abuse cases THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph a of section 11.00 of the local finance law is amended by adding a new subdivision 33-a-1 to read as follows: 33-A-1. JUDGMENTS, COMPROMISED CLAIMS, OR SETTLED CLAIMS RESULTING FROM SECTION TWO HUNDRED FOURTEEN-G OF THE CIVIL PRACTICE LAW AND RULES. NOTWITHSTANDING THE PROVISIONS OF SUBDIVISION THIRTY-THREE OF THIS SECTION, THE PAYMENT OF JUDGMENTS, COMPROMISED CLAIMS, OR SETTLED CLAIMS AGAINST A SCHOOL DISTRICT, BOARD OF COOPERATIVE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, OR SCHOOL DISTRICT CREATED BY SPECIAL ACT OF THE LEGISLATURE, RESULTING FROM COURT ORDERS ON PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT PURSUANT TO SECTION TWO HUNDRED FOURTEEN-G OF THE CIVIL PRACTICE LAW AND RULES, UP TO THIRTY YEARS. § 2.
