BILL NUMBER: S7251 SPONSOR: LANZA TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the penal law, in relation to making public lewdness in the first degree a class E felony PURPOSE OF BILL: This bill makes public lewdness in the first degree a Class E Felony. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section one amends the closing paragraph of section 245.03 of the penal law, as added by chapter 186 of the laws of 2014. Section two is the effective date. LANZA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to making public lewdness in the first degree a class E felony THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The closing paragraph of section 245.03 of the penal law, as added by chapter 186 of the laws of 2014, is amended to read as follows: Public lewdness in the first degree is a class [A misdemeanor] E FELO- NY. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11464-01-5
