BILL NUMBER: S7281 SPONSOR: MYRIE TITLE OF BILL: An act to repeal section 17-140 of the election law relating furnishing money or entertainment to induce attendance at polls PURPOSE: To amend the election law, in relation to furnishing money or enter- tainment to induce attendance at polls. In furtherance of the decision by the Southern District of New York in Brooklyn Branch of NAACP vs. Kosinski, 735 F.Supp.3d 421. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 repeals section 17-140 of the election law. Section 2 provides for the effective date.

Section 17-140 of the election law is REPEALED. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
