 Introduced  by  Sen.  BROUK  -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions
 
 AN ACT in relation to authorizing the town/village  of  East  Rochester,
   county  of Monroe to hire Karol Hughes to fill a full-time competitive
   position with the town/village of East Rochester police department

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1. Notwithstanding section 58 of the civil service law or any
 other law to the contrary, the town/village of East Rochester, county of
 Monroe, is hereby authorized and  directed  upon  the  approval  of  the
 town/village  board of trustees and the police chief of the town/village
 of East Rochester, to appoint Karol Hughes, who is currently employed as
 a  part-time  police  officer  with  the  police   department   of   the
 town/village of East Rochester, to a full-time competitive position as a
 police officer with the police department of such town/village.
   §  2. Karol Hughes shall be otherwise subject to the merit and fitness
 provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police offi-
 cers.
   § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
