BILL NUMBER: S790 SPONSOR: SCARCELLA-SPANTON TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the veterans' services law and the public health law, in relation to veteran maternity care; to repeal certain provisions of the veterans' services law relating thereto; and to amend a chapter of the laws of 2024 amending the veterans' services law and the public health law relating to establishing a maternity care coordination program for pregnant and postpartum veterans, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 9259 and A. 8162-A, in relation to the effectiveness thereof PURPOSE: This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to provisions of L.2024, c.623. SCARCELLA-SPANTON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the veterans' services law and the public health law, in relation to veteran maternity care; to repeal certain provisions of the veterans' services law relating thereto; and to amend a chapter of the laws of 2024 amending the veterans' services law and the public health law relating to establishing a maternity care coordination program for pregnant and postpartum veterans, as proposed in legisla- tive bills numbers S. 9259 and A. 8162-A, in relation to the effec- tiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (c) of subdivision 3 of section 19 of the veter- ans' services law is amended to read as follows: (c) liaison between the department, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs center for women veterans, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee on Women Veterans, state veterans nursing homes, state agencies, community groups, advocates and other veterans and military organizations and interested parties AND, AS IT PERTAINS TO THE VETERAN MATERNITY CARE PROGRAM ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO SECTION TWENTY-NINE-C OF THIS ARTICLE, THE COMMISSIONERS OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HEALTH, HOSPITALS, FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL HEALTH OFFICIALS, OBSTETRICIANS, MIDWIVES, PEDIATRICIANS, VETERANS AND VETERANS ADVOCATES; § 2. Section 29-b of the veterans' services law, as added by a chapter of the laws of 2024 amending the veterans' services law and the public health law relating to establishing a maternity care coordination program for pregnant and postpartum veterans, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 9259 and A. 8162-A, is renumbered section 29-c and subdivisions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of such section are amended to read as follows: EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
