BILL NUMBER: S810 SPONSOR: MYRIE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the election law, in relation to not including the proc- ess for declining designation to a county committee party position in the notice provided by the board of elections of the city of New York PURPOSE: This is a chapter amendment to chapter 657 of the laws of 2024 making changes to the Executive Law that would require agencies to use separate collection categories and tabulations for Middle Eastern and North Afri- can groups in New York State when collecting data on ancestry or ethnic origins of residents of New York State. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one adds a new subsection (h) to § 170 of the Executive Law to require that every state agency, board, department or commission that directly collects demographic data regarding the ancestry or ethnic

MYRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to not including the proc- ess for declining designation to a county committee party position in the notice provided by the board of elections of the city of New York THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 14 of section 6-134 of the election law, as added by a chapter of the laws of 2024 amending the election law relat- ing to notifying candidates of designation for certain county commit- tees, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 6199-B and A. 494-B, is amended to read as follows: 14. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, upon receipt of a designating petition pursuant to this section, the board of elections of the city of New York shall provide notice to each candidate designated in such petition for election to a party position of a county committee located within the city of New York informing such candidate of such designation [and the process for declining such designation in accordance with the provisions of section 6-146 of this article]. § 2. This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as a chapter of the laws of 2024 amending the election law relat- ing to notifying candidates of designation for certain county commit- tees, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 6199-B and A. 494-B, takes effect.
