Subordinate employees in offices of county clerks; salaries

§ 912. Subordinate employees in offices of county clerks; salaries. In
counties within the city of New York, the appointment of every deputy,
assistant, clerk, employee or subordinate shall be made in writing and
filed in the office of the clerk making the appointment before such
deputy, assistant or other person shall enter upon the discharge of his
duties. The number, duties and salaries of all such persons shall be
fixed by the clerk of each such county, respectively, subject to
revision by the board of estimate of the city of New York.
g. Notwithstanding any of the provisions of this section or of any
other law, the number of deputy county clerks in Bronx, Kings and Queens
counties or the salaries of any officers or employees provided for in
this section may be increased by the board of estimate of the city of
New York, provided that if such board increases either the number or
salaries of any such deputy county clerks, officers or employees above
the number or salaries provided for in this section, such board shall
likewise have the power to decrease any such number or salaries to any
number or salaries not lower than the number and salaries provided for
in this section.
