LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Raymond A. Mascolo, D.D.S., upon the
occasion of his designation by the Ronald Reagan Club as the recipient
of its 2009 Gipper Award
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Raymond A. Mascolo, D.D.S., has distinguished himself in his
profession and in service to his community, giving not only of his time
and energy but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has fittingly been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize and
commend Raymond Alfred Mascolo, D.D.S., upon the occasion of his desig-
nation by the Ronald Reagan Club of East Northport, New York, as the
recipient of its 2009 Gipper Award; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Mascolo will be presented with this prestigious award at
the Ronald Reagan Club's 11th Anniversary Gipper Award Celebration Gala,
to be held at the Larkfield Manor in East Northport on Thursday, April
16, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Mascolo has been serving the East Northport and surround-
ing communities as a practitioner of general and cosmetic dentistry from
his office on Clay Pitts Road in East Northport for more than 25 years;
and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Archbishop Malloy High School in Queens, Dr.
Mascolo attended the University at Albany, St. John's University and
Georgetown University Dental School, where he also completed his resi-
dency; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his dental practice, Dr. Mascolo teaches
Disaster Management for Health Professionals, Tooth Structure, and
Dental Terminology, and is the Director of the Preceptor Program of the
Adelphi University-Tufts University Joint Dental Degree Program and an
Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University; and
WHEREAS, Active in his profession and his community, Dr. Mascolo is a
member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry,
Suffolk Academy of Medicine, Queens County Dental Society, Suffolk Coun-
ty Dental Society and New York State Dental Society, and the Interna-
tional Society of Police Surgeons and New York State Fraternal Order of
Police Reverend Monsignor John J. Kowski Memorial Lodge 123, among many
others; and
WHEREAS, A caring, compassionate man who, in addition to his many
other responsibilities, helps children with cancer, handicapped veter-
ans, and the families of soldiers killed in Iraq, Dr. Mascolo has
completed several FEMA courses in order to be able to assist families
struck by natural disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina, and has achieved
the rank of Lieutenant General and Deputy Director in the United States
Disaster Relief Command (USDRC); and
WHEREAS, Dr. Mascolo has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly, standing constant in dignity, good grace and
humor, and has been honored many times by such organizations as the
Police Benevolent Association, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Knights
of Columbus Father Judge Council, and is the recipient of a Presidential
Medal for Volunteers; and
WHEREAS, With Dr. Mascolo throughout have been his wife of 32 years,
Evelyn, and their children, Thomas and Michele, all of whom are proud to
be a part of his life and rejoice in his many accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dr. Raymond Mascolo has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Raymond Alfred Mascolo, D.D.S., upon the occasion of his desig-
nation by the Ronald Reagan Club of East Northport, New York, as the
recipient of its 2009 Gipper Award on April 16, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Raymond A. Mascolo.
