LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Myron and Selina Siegel upon the occa-
sion of their designation by the Young Israel of Avenue J as the Guests
of Honor at its 29th Annual Dinner on May 31, 2009
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the Empire State is great-
ly enriched by the faithful and generous service of those who devote
themselves to endeavors of family, faith and community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals of such magnanimous conduct and bearing who demon-
strate a deep and continuing concern for others, and in so doing,
inspire others to do the same; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Myron and Selina Siegel upon the occasion of their designation
as the Guests of Honor at the 29th Annual Dinner of the Young Israel of
Avenue J in Flatbush, to be held at the Young Israel of Avenue K on
Sunday, May 31, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Myron and Selina Siegel, with their warm personalities and
smiling faces, have been pillars of the Young Israel of Avenue J and
Flatbush communities for more than 50 years; their home is an example of
chesed and other true Jewish values and they have worked on behalf of
many worthy Jewish and communal causes and organizations, and on behalf
of the State of Israel; and
WHEREAS, They are loving parents and grandparents and continuously
demonstrate their commitment to traditional, enduring Jewish values, and
involvement in Jewish causes and education, and truly merit this high
honor; and
WHEREAS, Myron Siegel has served the shul in a number of capacities,
including as a valued board member; he is dedicated to the synagogue and
is always among the first to generously contribute his time, effort and
resources; and
WHEREAS, Modest and preferring anonymity, many are not aware of his
ongoing projects to beautify the shul, including his significant role in
the renovation of the Bais Medrash, his efforts toward the restoration
of the synagogue's siddurim and chumashim, his polishing of the silver,
and his unpretentious involvement in many other Young Israel of Avenue J
activities; and
WHEREAS, Selina Siegel stands by his side and assists him in all these
efforts; she has been the ultimate wife, mother, and business partner
throughout their 57 years of marriage, constantly providing her highly
valued personal and business advice and support; and
WHEREAS, Together, Myron and Selina Siegel have established a success-
ful business in the construction industry, along with other related
ventures, and have a well-earned reputation for honesty and integrity in
both their personal lives and their business dealings; and
WHEREAS, Myron and Selina Siegel are most proud of their six children
and 17 grandchildren, who are, in turn, proud to be part of their lives
and rejoice in their accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, In recognizing Myron and Selina Siegel for their inspira-
tional and devoted service to their faith and community, the Young Isra-
el of Avenue J proudly honors a couple who exemplify the highest aims
and ideals of the Young Israel movement: adherence to Torah and mitzvot,
maintenance of the traditions of the Jewish people, both at home and in
the land of Israel, and commitment to their community and to American
society; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to extend its highest commen-
dation to Myron and Selina Siegel for their dedication and commitment to
their community and their heritage; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to pay
tribute to Myron and Selina Siegel upon the occasion of their desig-
nation as the Guests of Honor at the 29th Annual Dinner of the Young
Israel of Avenue J on May 31, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Myron and Selina Siegel.
