LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring The Tramutola Family upon the occasion
of their induction into Fontbonne Hall Academy's Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, The Tramutola Family have given not only of their time and
energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor The Tramutola
Family upon the occasion of their induction into Fontbonne Hall Acade-
my's Hall of Fame to be celebrated on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in Brook-
lyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Tramutola Family have been called upon to contribute
their time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
have always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, The late Margaret Sabella Tramutola attended Fontbonne Hall
Academy from 1943 to 1947; after graduation, she worked at Met Life
until she met the love of her life, John; together, they raised six
children and were blessed with 13 grandchildren and three great-grand-
children; and
WHEREAS, John Tramutola was a police officer before going into the
family produce business and subsequently founding A & J Produce; John is
known for donating to a vast number of charitable causes and was recent-
ly honored by a Jewish camp for his continued generosity; retired from
the family business, he enjoys being with his grandchildren and great-
grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, John Tramutola and his partner Al founded A & J Produce in
1977; the organization operates out of the Hunts Point Market in the
Bronx and has been recognized as one of the top wholesale distributors
of the finest quality produce in the New York metro area for more than
30 years; and
WHEREAS, A & J Produce sells the highest quality fruits and vegetables
from growers around the United States, South America and throughout the
world; their customers include other wholesalers, retailers, hotels,
gourmet stores, restaurants and purveyors of fine fruits and vegetables;
and
WHEREAS, The company is unique because it is a wholesale produce busi-
ness that includes three generations; each of the six Tramutola children
is unique and adds something special to the fabric of the family; and
WHEREAS, Margaret Sabella Tramutola passed away on November 25, 2007;
her family wanted to keep her legacy alive at Fontbonne Hall and estab-
lished a scholarship in her name; and
WHEREAS, With John Tramutola throughout have been his children,
Joanne, Carole, Thomas, Jimmy, John Jr., and Margaret, his grandchildren
John Thomas, James, Joseph, Jeffrey Jr., Christopher, John Paul, Jenni-
fer, Thomas, James Jr., Alyssa, Stephanie, Amanda, and John Robert III,
as well as his great-grandchildren Mia, Robert John and Johna, all of
whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, The Tramutola Family have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which The Tramutola Family have displayed
throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor The Tramutola Family upon the occasion of their induction into
Fontbonne Hall Academy's Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Tramutola Family.
