LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Tenna-
nah Lake Golf and Tennis Club to be celebrated June 11-12, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is also the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize
those special places within the Empire State which provide recreational
opportunity for residents and have become a part of the history of our
great State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of the Tennanah Lake Golf and Tennis Club,
Roscoe, New York; and
WHEREAS, To celebrate this auspicious occasion a Reception will be
held Friday, June 11, 2010, at the Club's catering hall, Wolff's 1910,
and will continue Saturday, June 12, 2010, with all day events, conclud-
ing with a spectacular fireworks display; and
WHEREAS, On top of the world at an elevation of more than 2,000 feet,
Peter Wolff built what is now known as one of the oldest surviving
resorts of the Catskills; and
WHEREAS, In 1910, he built the Tennanah Lake House, turning his once
small boarding farmhouse into a leader in tourism for Sullivan County;
and
WHEREAS, Peter Wolff needed to offer his guests fleeing the heat of
New York City more to do, so he began construction of a 9-hole golf
course; by 1935, the 400-acre resort expanded to accommodate 500 guests;
and
WHEREAS, By 1952, the 9-hole golf course was redesigned by legend Sam
Snead, expanding to an 18-hole course; and
WHEREAS, Today, Tennanah Lake Golf Course is the oldest operating golf
course in Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments, and which serve to bring
people together for such glorious purposes, are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Tennanah Lake Golf and Tennis
Club, Roscoe, New York, to be celebrated June 11-12, 2010; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Tennanah Lake Golf and Tennis Club, 100 Fairway View
Drive, Roscoe, New York 12776.
