LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Blue Knights Law Enforcement
Motorcycle Club, New York Chapter 8, upon the occasion of hosting the
organization's fall Tri-State Conference in Latham, New York, October
9-11, 2010
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Blue
Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, New York Chapter 8, upon the
occasion of hosting the organization's fall Tri-State Conference; this
auspicious occasion will take place at the Holiday Inn in Latham, New
York, on October 9-11, 2010; and
WHEREAS, The Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club is a non-
profit fraternal organization consisting of active and retired law
enforcement men and women who enjoy riding motorcycles; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1974 by several law enforcement officers from the
Bangor, Maine, area, the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club
has 599 chapters and almost 20,000 members in 29 countries; and
WHEREAS, The purposes and goals of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement
Motorcycle Club are to: provide for the mutual assistance, enjoyment,
entertainment, education, physical, mental and social benefit of its
members and the general public; promote and advance the sport of motor-
cycling and the safety of motorcycling; serve the interests of motorcy-
cle owners and users; promote by example and any other acceptable means,
safe use, operation and enjoyment of motorcycles; and develop a frater-
nal spirit between law enforcement personnel and the general public; and
WHEREAS, The Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club has eleven
conferences; the Tri-State Conference covers the states of New Jersey,
New York and Pennsylvania and is the largest conference in the Blue
Knights organization with approximately 3029 members; there are 62 chap-
ters within the Tri-State Conference; it holds a Spring Presidents meet-
ing and Fall Conference meeting each year; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Blue Knights
Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, and to congratulate it on its achieve-
ments and progress; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments, and which serve to bring
people together for such constructive and beneficial purposes, are
brought to our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, New York Chap-
ter 8, upon the occasion of hosting the organization's fall Tri-State
Conference; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, New York
Chapter 8.
