LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Elmy's Special Services, Inc. upon
the occasion of celebrating its 10th Anniversary

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary organizations it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Elmy's Special Services, Inc. upon the occasion of celebrating its
10th Anniversary on Thursday, May 10, 2012; and
WHEREAS, On this special day, Elmy's will observe 10 years of service
to individuals with disabilities with a 10th Anniversary Showcase to be
held at the Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza, in Brooklyn, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Elmy's Special Services, Inc. was established in May of 2002;
it was organized to enhance the quality of life for persons with disa-
bilities and their families, and the organization's purpose is to
provide comprehensive, individualized services to children and adults
throughout the city of New York; and
WHEREAS, Today, 10 years after Ray Knights opened that small home
office, the more than 150 employees of Elmy's Special Services provide
educational, residential, respite and other support and services for
more than 700 developmentally disabled children, adults and their fami-
lies in locations throughout the five boroughs and beyond; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Elmy's Special Services, Inc.'s
distinguished record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of
this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Elmy's Special Services, Inc. upon the occasion of cele-
brating its 10th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Elmy's Special Services, Inc.
