LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending June Criscione upon the occasion of
being named a 2013 United States Presidential Scholar

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend June Cris-
cione upon the occasion of being named a 2013 United States Presidential
Scholar; and
WHEREAS, Academically, June Criscione has distinguished herself as a
young woman of superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing
standards of excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and
responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed award recognizes students for outstanding
academic achievement, artistic excellence, leadership, citizenship, and
service and contribution to their school and community; students
selected will be personally presented awards by President Barack Obama;
and
WHEREAS, June Criscione, an 18 year-old senior at Albany High School,
had a perfect score on her ACT exam, and almost perfect score on her SAT
exam; she plays violin, and is a member of the cross country team; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, June Criscione
has brought honor to her family, school, and community by being chosen
as one of only 141 students nationwide to receive this honor, one of the
nation's highest academic honors for high school students; and
WHEREAS, June Criscione credits her math teacher, Margot Plumadore,
for being an inspiring mentor, as well as Albany High School's extensive
extracurricular activities, its music program and diversity, and help
from her parents for her academic success; and
WHEREAS, June Criscione may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; she will attend Harvard University in the Fall;
and
WHEREAS, June Criscione represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend June Criscione upon the occasion of being named a 2013 United
States Presidential Scholar; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to June Criscione.
