LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Colonie, New York, Pop Warner
"Angels" upon the occasion of being selected to participate in the Pres-
ident's Council of Fitness, Sports and Nutrition

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the Colonie, New York, Pop Warner "Angels" upon the occasion of
being selected to participate in the President's Council of Fitness,
Sports and Nutrition; and
WHEREAS, The Colonie, New York, Pop Warner "Angels" is a cheerleading
team composed of 14 Capital District area youth with disabilities,
including autism, developmental challenges, mental health challenges and
muscular dystrophy; and
WHEREAS, The Angels are coached by Martha Vadney, President of the
Colonie, New York, Pop Warner organization; and
WHEREAS, On Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in Washington, D.C., the Colonie,
New York, Pop Warner "Angels" participated in the President's Council of
Fitness, Sports and Nutrition by performing a routine and giving input
on how students with disabilities can participate in more team sports;
and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Colonie, New York,
Pop Warner "Angels"; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an organ-
ization of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our atten-
tion, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Colonie, New York, Pop Warner "Angels" upon the occa-
sion of being selected to participate in the President's Council of
Fitness, Sports and Nutrition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Colonie, New York, Pop Warner "Angels."
