LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Cambria Heights Community Church
upon the occasion of celebrating its 2013 Hibiscus Festival on September
28, 2013

WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in commending the Camb-
ria Heights Community Church upon the occasion of celebrating its 2013
Hibiscus Festival on Saturday, September 28, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Cambria Heights Community Church began under the leader-
ship of Reverend Williams McNeil, in a house at 116th-03 219th Street in
the Fall of 1928; it was the first church built in Cambria Heights, and
thus, it became popularly known as The Community Church; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Cambria Heights Community Church is to
provide spiritual guidance to the members of its community without
restrictions, or reservations; in addition, the Church cares for the
needy, and the people it serves; and
WHEREAS, The Cambria Heights Community Church is family oriented, and
an integral part of the community; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to take note of enduring reli-
gious institutions and to bring such institutions to the attention of
the people of this Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an event
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention, it
should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Cambria Heights Community Church upon the occasion of its
2013 Hibiscus Festival on September 28, 2013; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Cambria Heights Community Church.
