LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Jennifer Manley, Vice-President of
the Queens Library Government and Community Affairs, upon the occasion
of being named a Champion of Change
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this nation, and the great
State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate their
lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Jenni-
fer Manley, Vice-President of the Queens Library Government and Communi-
ty Affairs, upon the occasion of being named a Champion of Change; and
WHEREAS, The Champions of Change event will focus on libraries and
museums which make a difference for their neighborhoods, as well as for
the nation; all across the country, Americans are doing extraordinary
things to out-innovate, out-educate, and out-build the rest of the
world; and
WHEREAS, To celebrate this most auspicious occasion, Jennifer Manley
was invited to The White House to represent Queens Library's work in
community-building, and its support of immigrants; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in New Hampshire, Jennifer Manley holds a
degree in Journalism and Creative Writing from Lyndon State College;
prior to joining the Queens Library in 2010, she served as the Queens
Director of the Mayor's Community Affairs Unit; and
WHEREAS, Queens Library is one of the largest libraries in the nation,
circulating over 13 million items from a 7.5 million collection annual-
ly; the Library also welcomes over 13 million visitors a year to its 62
library locations; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an indi-
vidual of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jennifer Manley, Vice-President of the Queens Library
Government and Community Affairs, upon the occasion of being named a
Champion of Change; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jennifer Manley.
