LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Henry Street Urban Family Center
upon the occasion of its 40th Anniversary Celebration, May 21, 2013
WHEREAS, A Great State is only as great as those organizations and indi-
viduals who perform exemplary service on behalf of their community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the Henry
Street Urban Family Center upon the occasion of its 40th Anniversary
Celebration, held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Henry Street Settle-
ment Abrons Art Center in Manhattan; and
WHEREAS, For over a century, Henry Street Settlement has provided
indispensable services to immigrant families in the Lower East Side
community; and
WHEREAS, Henry Street Settlement has worked tirelessly to provide
cultural programs and social and health care services to all members of
the diverse community; and
WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1972, the Henry Street Urban Family
Center has demonstrated an unwavering devotion to its community and the
mission of Henry Street Settlement; and
WHEREAS, The Henry Street Urban Family Center provides families with
opportunities to improve their quality of life and invest in the success
of their children through programs that include case management, indi-
vidual and family counseling, housing search assistance and child care
programs; and
WHEREAS, This year, the Henry Street Urban Family Center recognized
Dany Kronenfeld, Founding Director of the UFC and Henry Street Settle-
ment Executive Director from 1985-2002; Commissioner Robert Doar of the
Human Resources Administration; Chairman John B. Rhea of the New York
City Housing Authority; Commissioner Seth Diamond of the Department of
Homeless Services; and Dr. Ralph Da Costa-Nunez, President of Homes for
the Homeless, who deserve the highest commendation for their contrib-
utions to the community; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Henry Street Urban Family Center upon the occasion of its
40th Anniversary Celebration, May 21, 2013; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Henry Street Urban Family Center.
