LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Benjamin Patrick upon the occasion of
his designation as 2013 Salutatorian of Amsterdam High School

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Benjamin
Patrick upon the occasion of his designation as 2013 Salutatorian of
Amsterdam High School; and
WHEREAS, Benjamin Patrick, son of Thomas and Jami Patrick, has distin-
guished himself as a young man of superlative ability, talent, and matu-
rity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purposeful-
ness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Benjamin
Patrick has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Benjamin Patrick is graduating with an Advanced Regents
Diploma with Honors designation; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Benjamin Patrick is the recipient of numerous
awards and accolades, some of which include: Presidential Scholarship
Award at Union College, Prudential Spirit Community award, Excellence in
Study of Literature Award, New York State 2012 Scholarship for Academic
Excellence, and Boys State Attendee; and
WHEREAS, A member of the National Honor Society, Benjamin Patrick also
participated in Math League, Independent Language Study, and Master-
minds; he is a member of the Tennis and Bowling Teams, and plays guitar
and bass; and
WHEREAS, Benjamin Patrick may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he contin-
ues his education; he will attend Union College in the Fall, where he
will major in Biochemistry and Foreign Language; and
WHEREAS, Benjamin Patrick represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of
his future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Benjamin Patrick upon the occasion of his designation as 2013
Salutatorian of Amsterdam High School; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Benjamin Patrick.
