LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Morgan Leonard upon the occasion of
her designation as winner of the Tawasentha Chapter of the National
Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, New York State Flag
Essay Contest, May 15, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success in
educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Morgan Leonard upon the occasion of her designation as winner of the
Tawasentha Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the Amer-
ican Revolution (NSDAR), New York State Flag Essay Contest; she was
honored at a Civil War themed dinner, on Wednesday, May 15, 2013,
attended by her family; and
WHEREAS, Morgan Leonard is a 5th grade student at Hamagrael Elementary
School in Delmar, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the New York state organization of the Daughters
of the American Revolution presents the opportunity for students in the
fifth and sixth grades to enter a flag essay contest entitled, "What the
Flag of the United States Means to Me"; and
WHEREAS, Morgan Leonard's patriotic essay captivated the members of
the Tawasentha Chapter, NSDAR, whose members are devoted to the mission
of promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism; and
WHEREAS, Morgan Leonard received an award and a certificate of appre-
ciation for her stirring accomplishment; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic pride and her desire to achieve,
Morgan Leonard represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Morgan Leonard upon the occasion of her designation as winner of
the Tawasentha Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the
American Revolution, New York State Flag Essay Contest; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Morgan Leonard.
