LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the US Pakistan Polo Club Competi-
tion to be held Sunday, August 18, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality of
life of the citizens of the State of New York is greatly enriched by the
availability of exceptional recreational clubs and competitions offered
throughout communities across this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the US Pakistan Polo Club Competition to be held Sunday, August
18, 2013, at Bethpage State Park, Long Island, New York; and
WHEREAS, It is also the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute
to E. Nisar Khan, Managing Partner of the US Pakistan Polo Club, LLC,
for his contributions in commencing this auspicious event; and
WHEREAS, Polo is a team sport played on horseback in which the objec-
tive is to score goals against an opposing team; players score by driv-
ing a small white plastic or wooden ball into the opposing team's goal
using a long-handled mallet; and
WHEREAS, The traditional sport of polo is played at speed on a large
grass field up to 300 yards in length, and each polo team consists of
four riders and their mounts; and
WHEREAS, US Pakistan Polo Club, founded in 2010, is dedicated to
developing and supporting programs that unite the nations of Pakistan
and the United States together through the sport of Polo; and
WHEREAS, Polo, also known as "The Sport of Kings" is the oldest recog-
nized sport in the world; today it is played around the world in more
than 80 countries; and
WHEREAS, The US Pakistan Polo Club utilizes this great sport to bring
together Pakistan and the United States nations in a common message of
peace, respect and team spirit; and
WHEREAS, These polo matches and programs provide an arena to promote
social networking of entrepreneurs and business professionals with a
regional background to Pakistan; and
WHEREAS, Community sporting groups such as the US Pakistan Polo Club
provide an opportunity for Pakistan and the United States nations to
bond through the recreation of competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when clubs of
such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they
should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the US Pakistan Polo Club Competition to be held Sunday,
August 18, 2013; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the US Pakistan Polo Club.
