LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the Town of Wappinger Community Day
Parade on Sunday, September 22, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, to recognize and applaud events which foster
community pride and exemplify the diversity which represents and
strengthens the communities of the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The town of Wappinger is the smallest and youngest town in
Dutchess County but in 1875 it was the most populous; its industry
powered by the Wappinger Creek and Wappinger's Falls and the agricul-
tural life in the hamlets helped play a huge role in the formation of
Wappinger; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, this Legislative Body is justly
proud to commemorate the Town of Wappinger Community Day Parade on
Sunday, September 22, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Town of Wappinger Community Day will feature, in addition
to the 38th Annual Community Day Parade, community and vendor booths, a
carnival, and fireworks; and
WHEREAS, The Declaration of Independence will be read, patriotic music
will be played and, throughout the day, kids will be able to have fun on
rides and participate in hula hoop and watermelon-eating contests; and
WHEREAS, There will also be a wonderful assortment of craft vendors,
food concessions, and community booths will offer a wide array of useful
and helpful information as well; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the Town of Wappinger Community Day Parade on Sunday,
September 22, 2013; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the 2013 Wappinger Community Day Committee.
