LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Famous
Deli-Licious Italian Pork Store
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to celebrate the
achievements of small businesses within the State of New York, recogniz-
ing their incalculable contributions to the economic health and vitality
of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is pleased to commemorate the
25th Anniversary of Famous Deli-Licious Italian Pork Store in Middle-
town, New York; and
WHEREAS, Famous Deli-Licious Italian Pork Store has been a mainstay in
Orange County, New York, for the past 25 years; patrons purchase not
only homemade Old World Italian food, but also Italian culture and memo-
ries; and
WHEREAS, Famous Deli-Licious Italian Pork Store is owned and lovingly
operated by Giovanni and Dominick Papandrea, brothers who immigrated to
the United States in 1967 from Calabria, Italy, where they began to
absorb the skills of preparing delicious food from watching their
parents and experiencing the bountiful produce and artisanship of the
region; and
WHEREAS, Upon settling in Brooklyn, New York, with their family, Giov-
anni and Dominick Papandrea both worked in Italian delis part-time after
school; at age 17, Giovanni opened his first deli in Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Famous Deli-Licious Italian Pork Store opened in 1988 after
Giovanni and Dominick Papandrea, having each run successful delis indi-
vidually, decided to join forces; and
WHEREAS, Now in their 25th year, the talented and dedicated Papandrea
brothers continue the traditions handed down to them, preparing a wide
array of foods naturally, teaching their children and grandchildren
classic Italian cuisine, and delighting the palates of their customers
throughout the Hudson Valley; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses such as Famous Deli-Licious Italian Pork
Store exert a strong, positive influence on the communities they serve
and are a crucial element in the economy of New York State; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Famous Deli-Licious Italian Pork
Store, and to convey its best wishes for a future of continued success;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Giovanni and Dominick Papandrea, owners of Famous Deli-Li-
cious Italian Pork Store.
