LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Barbara-Jo Hard upon the occasion of her
retirement after many years of distinguished service as co-Founder and
Executive Director of Bornhava

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Barbara-Jo
Hard upon the occasion of her retirement after many years of distin-
guished service as co-Founder and Executive Director of Bornhava; and
WHEREAS, Bornhava, a Danish word meaning a high-quality early child-
hood program with a home-like environment, is an early intervention and
preschool program, nurturing and educating children with developmental
disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Bornhava partners with families to prepare its students for a
full and productive life through encouragement and support; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Barbara-Jo Hard has displayed extraor-
dinary dedication and commitment to serving the children and families at
Bornhava; and
WHEREAS, Under Barbara-Jo Hard's luminous direction, Bornhava has
grown from a small preschool program to a significant agency serving 150
students in four locations; and
WHEREAS, Barbara-Jo Hard rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable
service to Bornhava, the City of Buffalo, and Western New York; in her
capacity as co-Founder and Executive Director, she served with loyalty,
honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Barbara-Jo Hard was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems, earn-
ing the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Barbara-Jo Hard has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barbara-Jo Hard upon the occasion of her retirement after many
years of distinguished service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Barbara-Jo Hard.
