LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Marilyn Laubacher upon the occasion of
her retirement after many years of distinguished service as the Librar-
ian of the Baldwinsville Public Library
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and recognize
those dedicated individuals, who have improved the culture of our commu-
nity through exemplary institutions whose purpose is dedicated to serv-
ing the community and the needs of its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to hereby
recognize and honor Marilyn Laubacher upon the occasion of her retire-
ment after many years of distinguished service as the Librarian of the
Baldwinsville Public Library; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn Laubacher joined the library as Director on July 6,
1983; during her tenure the library has grown and flourished signif-
icantly, including a new facility, which opened in October of 1995, and
is located centrally in the Village of Baldwinsville; and
WHEREAS, During her time at the Baldwinsville Public Library, Marilyn
Laubacher has worked to improve the library's technology system, insti-
tuted Sunday hours, added new equipment, implemented various new
programs, and created several new positions including Adult Programming
Librarian and a full-time Children's Librarian; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn Laubacher also used her involvement with the Bald-
winsville Chamber of Commerce to combine resources to administer grants
that provided the community with additional services and made the new
building more user friendly; and
WHEREAS, Most recently, Marilyn Laubacher received one of the highest
honors one can receive, the 2013 Ruth Connell Award and was named
Employee of the Year as a result of being nominated by several of her
fellow co-workers; and
WHEREAS, According to her friends and colleagues, it has been said of
Marilyn Laubacher that she exhibits tremendous leadership skills, is
always a team player, sacrifices her time and energies without
complaint, finds the strength in those who work with her and always puts
the patrons of the community first; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as the Librarian, Marilyn Laubacher served
with loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of
duty, always showing a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with the Baldwinsville Public Library,
Marilyn Laubacher earned the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize and honor Marilyn Laubacher upon the occasion of her retire-
ment after many years of distinguished service to the Baldwinsville
Public Library and the community of Baldwinsville; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Marilyn Laubacher.
