LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating Bagel Grove for 25 years as a
successful local business

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
small businesses within the State of New York which contribute to the
economic health and vitality of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate Bagel
Grove for 25 years as a successful local business on Saturday, September
21, 2013 during its Anniversary Celebration; and
WHEREAS, Bagel Grove, Utica's Authentic Bagelry, is in its second
generation of local ownership and continues to grow both in serving
fresh bagels to the greater Utica area, and in its employment of local
residents; and
WHEREAS, During the past 25 years, Bagel Grove has expanded to serve
over 500 dozen bagels a day, delivered in a 50-mile radius through
wholesale accounts to colleges, hospitals and businesses, as well as
through breakfast and lunch at its retail store in Utica, New York; and
WHEREAS, Since its humble beginnings, Bagel Grove's bagels have been
made from scratch and authentically boiled and baked fresh every day;
and
WHEREAS, Employing 20 area residents, Bagel Grove strives to create an
empowering and positive working environment by providing exceptional
benefits extending far beyond businesses typically in its sector; and
WHEREAS, Through the years, Bagel Grove has remained a stable occupant
in its South Utica neighborhood amidst several vacancies and turn-overs
in the surrounding retail outlets; and
WHEREAS, Committed to its original location, Bagel Grove's value of
supporting the local economy is also evidenced by its decision to source
all contractors and supplies from locally-owned businesses; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at Bagel Grove's
newly renovated retail store with family-friendly games, contests,
prizes and live music by local musicians; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses such as Bagel Grove exert a strong, positive
influence on the communities they serve and are a crucial element in the
economy of New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate Bagel Grove for 25 years as a successful local business; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bagel Grove.
