LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Carey High School Head Football
Coach Mike Stanley upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the New York Giants Coach of the Year Award

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize those individuals within our midst who have contributed great-
ly to the quality of our lives by providing exceptional leadership and
commitment to our youth; and
WHEREAS, It is acknowledged that athletic competition enhances the
moral and physical development of the young people of this State,
preparing them for the future by instilling in them the value of team-
work, encouraging a standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for
success and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and,
further, that excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, all
of which are nurtured by dedicated coaching; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Carey High School Head Football Coach Mike Stanley upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the New York Giants Coach of the
Year Award; and
WHEREAS, Mike Stanley guided the Carey Seahawks to a 12-0 record, the
Long Island Class II championship and the Rutgers Cup, awarded to the
most outstanding team in Nassau; for his efforts, he was selected by the
New York Giants as the Lou Rettino high school football coach of the
year; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Mike Stanley also was named the NEWSDAY Nassau
coach of the year for 2011; the Seahawks are 53-19 in seven seasons
under his leadership and he previously reached a county semifinal in
2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012, and made it to the county final in
2010; and
WHEREAS, Mike Stanley's successful coaching techniques are exemplified
by his energy, enthusiasm and passion, which permeates and motivates the
team; he has a passion for the game, a great football mind and a tremen-
dous work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Mike Stanley is a great communicator who relates well to all
his players who respond positively to his leadership; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Carey High School Head Football Coach Mike Stanley upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the New York Giants Coach of
the Year Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Carey High School Head Football Coach Mike Stanley, Franklin
Square, New York.
