LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce
upon the occasion of celebrating its 87th Annual Installation and Awards
Gala and paying tribute to its 2013 honorees

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations who give of their time and
energies and serve the best interests of their communities are an asset
beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce upon the occasion of celebrating its
87th Annual Installation and Awards Gala to be held Tuesday, September
17, 2013, at Westbury Manor, Westbury, New York, and to pay tribute to
its 2013 honorees; and
WHEREAS, The 2013 Honorees being recognized for their outstanding
contributions and accomplishments to their community include: Small
Businessperson of the Year Award, Marlo Signoracci, General Manager of
Econolodge; Citizen of the Year, Sam Maruca, Sales Manager for MetLife;
President's Award, Steven Skrynecki, Nassau County Police Chief; Educa-
tion Provider of the Year, Dr. George Santiago, President of Briarcliffe
College; Lifetime Achievement Award, William Shuckmann, Hicksville Cham-
ber Board Member; New Member of the Year, Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology;
Longevity Award (Celebrating their 50th Year in Operation), Hicksville
Gregory Museum; Health Care Provider of the Year, Amun Honda, President
of 100 Black Men of Long Island, Inc.; Community Support Award, Quddus
Mohammed, President of Rotary of Hicksville South; Non Profit of the
Year, Eric Alexander, Executive Director of Vision Long Island; Beauti-
fication Award, Bill Foley, Hicksville Chamber Board Member; Facade
Revitalization Award, Scott Brown, Robert Chevrolet; and Chamber
Outreach Award, Gregg Scheiner, EAC Adjunct Professor; and
WHEREAS, The 2013 Honorees have distinguished themselves through
outstanding success in character, leadership, excellence and community
involvement; they are all true assets to society; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which these honorees have displayed throughout
their lives; and
WHEREAS, The 87th Annual Installation and Awards Gala of the Hicks-
ville Chamber of Commerce presents a favorable and unique opportunity
for this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to this outstand-
ing organization; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention
to organizations such as the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce which serve
to bring people together for the united purpose of actively pursuing
improvements in their communities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce upon the occasion of cele-
brating its 87th Annual Installation and Awards Gala, and to pay tribute
to its 2013 honorees; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce, and the aforementioned
honorees.
